Not just commercial vehicles. A bit of a surprise at the IAA in Hanover, the biennial exhibition dedicated to professional vehicles (20-25 September for visitors after the day reserved for the media), the Chinese of SAIC presented for the first time in Europe a Maxus-branded minivan so far only exhibited on the domestic market. This is the Mifa 9 imported into Italy by the Koelliker group and available starting next year. The German showcase was also chosen by Volkswagen to unveil the second generation of the Amarok to the general public, the renewed pick-up resulting from the cooperation with Ford which in many countries is used as a car, but which can only be registered in Italy. as a truck (N1) and not as a car (M1). Renault took advantage of the same stage to showcase a new model for outdoor tourism, the Hyppie Caviar Motel, a colorful single-berth electric motorhome credited with 285km of range.
The Maxus Mifa 9 measures 5.27 meters in length and has a wheelbase of 320 centimeters: the Luxury declination exhibited in Hanover has seven seats and front-wheel drive only, but there is also a variant for 8 (the driver and 7 passengers). ) and probably also 4-wheel drive. The Chinese minivan is powered by a 245 hp engine and 350 Nm of torque combined with a 90 kWh battery that promises up to 440 km of autonomy. The hypothesized price for the prestigious Luxury set-up is around 70,000 euros. The entry price to the range should therefore be lower. The Maxus Mifa 9 can be interesting for large families, but also for rental companies with driver and is suitable as a shuttle (a bit like the Korean EV9 electric).
At its stand, Volkswagen has decided to deploy the new Amarok next to the ID Buzz Cargo, the commercial version of the electric Bulli that has been driven in recent days in a car variant in Copenhagen: for both models this is the first public limelight. The American-born German pickup will be offered in single or double cab, including four-wheel drive. The engines to choose from will be conventional and supercharged, even with a newly developed ten-speed automatic transmission: four diesel and one petrol. The turbodiesel will have powers between 150 and 250 hp, while the turbobenzina will be 302 hp.
The Hyppie Caviar Motel, the showcamper with the Losanga insignia, was born on the platform of the new 4.67-meter-long Kangoo L2 E-Tech Electric and is powered by a 120 Hp zero-emission engine powered by a 45 kWh which allows you to recover 170 kilometers of travel in half an hour at the outlet. It is a vehicle that looks very cheeky on the outside and which is spartan, but functional on the inside. The single bed is a “makeshift” solution that is obtained by reclining the bench seats, because the vehicle seems to have been created for sportsmen to whom various compartments are reserved for equipment, including the roof bars for skis, which are also transportable on the side guide, because on the other the designers have obtained a panoramic “skylight”.
