As for the Italian brands, Alfa Romeo will have its first 100% electric car in 2024, while from 2027 and limited to some markets, it will only bring battery-powered cars to the market. The same fate will befall Lancia but one year in advance, therefore 100% electric from 2026 onwards; in this regard, DS will also become 100% electric, but already from 2024 The other big news concerns Fiat, which in 2023 will return to the B segment abandoned in 2018 with the departure of the Punto, but it is still too early to know if with a hybrid or 100% electric model. More detailed information will come with the business plan that could be ready by the end of 2021 or at the latest by the beginning of 2022.

Meanwhile, considering the other brands, Tavares talked about the launch of “eleven 100% electric models and ten plug-in hybrids over the next two years”. Among these there will certainly be the Alfa Romeo Tonale and then a series of Citroen, Dodge, DS, Jeep, Maserati, Opel and Peugeot cars, divided between plug-in and electric hybrids. The BEVs – Battery Electric Vehicles – will be Citroen, Opel, Peugeot and Maserati. The latest is already known and is the new generation of the GranTurismo coupe. Speaking of the Modena brand, Tavares confirmed its return to profit with an operating result of 29 million euros and a growing share in all markets. “Maserati has strong growth potential. We have many ideas to make the brand more profitable and more attractive “commented the CEO of Stellantis.

As regards the accounts, however, in the first half of 2021 Stellantis had excellent revenues, with a net total of 75.3 billion euros, equal to + 46%. The synergy plan brought 1.3 billion in cash benefits, but the shortage of semiconductors resulted in negative cash flow of 1.2 billion. The pro forma adjusted operating result was € 8.6 billion with a margin of 11.4%. Tavares called them “important financial results” that “complement significant progress on strategic issues relating to acceleration in the field of electrification and software, fundamental pillars of our strategy”. The CEO of Stellantis then added that “the new governance is fully operational. You have a very happy CEO in front of you” before talking about Italy.

“We have started a constructive dialogue with the trade unions and almost everyone has understood the extent of the energy transition we are going through as well as the whole sector. We have explained that if we maintain the status quo we will get into trouble. The quality of the confrontation with the unions as with the government is high “said Tavares about the Italian situation, while with regard to Europe and the recent plan presented by the European Commission, he criticized the approach” We will adapt to the targets and luckily we are early, but if they are not part of a broader strategy, the new objectives will not be enough to prevent the planet from overheating. We need to know what we are charging our cars with “concluded Tavares.
