At Eicma 2022 Ducati presents the new generation of the Scrambler

Cars News

After an eight-year career, in which over 100,000 units were sold, the Ducati Scrambler has been completely renewed and is included in the ranking of the most interesting new products at Eicma 2022. The spirit is always the same, that of an essential, fun, easy to drive and with a great personality. Even the salient technical characteristics remain the same: L-twin cylinder engine with two valves per cylinder and air-cooled distribution and trellis frame, wide handlebars and low center of gravity. The new Scrambler range includes three models with different characters, Icon, Full Throttle and Nightshift. The basic style is the same for all, with the front light divided into four circular sectors and with the X applied to the outside, while the rear one maintains the classic semi-circle shape.

The steel tank has an interchangeable cover which, together with the mudguards and the details on the headlight, gives the bike color and allows quick but complete customization. Among the other interesting details we point out the new instrumentation with 4.3” color TFT and the exhaust with the turn of the manifolds which leaves the engine completely visible. Returning to the technique, the Scrambler is 4 kg lighter, there is a brand new swingarm with the single shock absorber in the center of the bike and the rear frame is separate from the main frame. The wheels remain 18-inch at the front and 17-inch at the rear; the 73 HP Desmodue engine has a new eight-disc clutch, which is softer in operation and more compact. The accelerator is now ride-by-wire and has made it possible to integrate both traction control and two riding modes: road and wet.

Looking specifically at the three versions, it becomes clear that the Icon is the most essential, available in the three basic colours, i.e. the same yellow as the 1962 Scrambler, black and Ducati red. The Full Throttle is the sportiest proposal and is inspired by the US Flat Track competitions on dirt ovals; it has the side number plates with the number 62, the sump guard, a shorter front mudguard, a lower handlebar, the tail without the rear mudguard, the approved Termignoni silencer and the quick shift up/down as standard. Finally, the Nightshift is the most elegant version with the stitched café racer-style saddle and the alternation of glossy and matt surfaces. The blue coloring, the spoked rims and the bar-end mirrors complete the picture. All will arrive on the market in March 2023.
