The new business plan that will bring Lamborghini to a radical reduction in CO2 emissions is called “Cor Tauri Management”: it was presented by Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of the Sant’Agata Bolognese company, illustrating the strategic stages of the decarbonization process that it will involve both future models and the brand’s production site. The focus, not even having to specify it, is all on electrification.
“Lamborghini’s electrification plan is a change of course made necessary by a radically changed context, in which we want to make our contribution by continuing to reduce the environmental impact through concrete projects”, explains Winkelmann in an official note: “Our response it is a plan with an integrated approach, from the products to the Sant’Agata Bolognese site, which will lead us towards a more sustainable future, but still faithful to our DNA. Lamborghini has always been synonymous with extremely high technological competence in the construction of engines with extraordinary performance: this will continue to be the absolute priority of our entire journey towards innovation “.
Cor Tauri Management has three phases: it starts with the celebration of traditions, that is of the internal combustion engine (2021-2022) through the presentation of thermal models destined for versions that will pay tribute to the history of the brand. Already this year the company announced the launch of two new V12 engines. Even more important is the hybrid transition phase (by the end of 2024): in 2023, in fact, Lamborghini will present its first hybrid series model and by the end of 2024 the entire range will be electrified. The target is the 50% reduction of carbon dioxide emissions from the beginning of 2025.
To achieve the goal, Toro has planned an investment of over 1.5 billion euros allocated over four years, the largest in Lamborghini’s history. The third and final phase will also be the most revolutionary and will coincide with the debut of the first 100% electric Lambo, which should arrive in the second half of the decade. Ambitious intentions, which give credit to the name chosen to describe them: Cor Tauri is the brightest star in the constellation of Taurus and “represents Lamborghini’s direction towards an electrified future, but always faithful to the heart and soul of the brand”.
