From 2024, every new model of DS Automobiles – Stellantis luxury brand born from a Citroen offshoot – will be 100% electric, including the sporty ones, which will be developed using the expertise of DS Performance, the manufacturer’s division dedicated to racing. And among these high-performance models there could also be the E-Tense Performance, a disturbing coupé with a carbon monocoque frame and battery-powered mechanics derived from the world of Formula E, that of electron single-seaters.
“Our goal is to apply the experience gained in Formula E with that from our international titles to a project that includes the high-performance electric car of tomorrow” explains in an official note Thomas Chevaucher, Director of DS Performace: “It is a laboratory that we will use to analyze the functioning of the components and to develop them in view of future production.

The idea is also to find solutions to lower costs, improve production and explore implementations in production models. The next generations of the E-Tense range will benefit from these developments ”.

In the case of the E-Tense Performance, which for the moment remains a (nice) prototype, the powertrain is composed of two electric motors that deliver a combined power of 600 kW (250 kW at the front and 350 kW at the rear) corresponding to 815 CV, with the accumulator that powers the whole – developed in collaboration with TotalEnergies, is housed in a carbon-aluminum composite case and located in a central position – connected to a sophisticated energy recovery system and equipped with advanced cooling of the cells that compose it.
