Cars News

After having completely renewed the Panigale V4, Ducati has added a new version that is at the top of the range. Its name is Panigale V4 SP2 and will be produced in a numbered series. Compared to the “S” it costs almost 9,000 euros more (39,500 euros), an expense due to the even higher technical content dedicated to track use.

The acronym SP, after all, stands for Sport Production. So here is a more performing braking system, carbon wheel rims, final transmission and dry clutch inherited from the Superbike championship motorcycles, racing footpegs and a series of carbon components. Furthermore, a kit is delivered with the bike specifically for use between the curbs, which includes the aluminum caps machined from solid for the removal of rear-view mirrors, the components for the removal of the license plate holder and the open clutch cover in carbon.

On an aesthetic level, however, the Panigale V4 SP2 is characterized by the “Winter Test” livery, in which the black of the fairings is combined with the matte carbon finish of the rims and wings, contrasting with the red details and the brushed aluminum tank. at sight. The steering head is also machined from solid and shows the progressive number of the bike. The engine does not change compared to the other versions of the Panigale and is obviously the one updated to 2022, with 215.5 HP at 13,000 rpm and the four Power modes that modify the delivery of torque gear by gear. Performance that can be increased in all circuits – respects noise limits – with the Ducati Performance exhaust – Akrapovič which increases power up to 228 HP and reduces the weight by 5 kg, up to 168 kg dry.

Still on the subject of track use, the Panigale V4 SP2 has a GPS module that allows you to activate the automatic chronometer within the digital instrumentation derived from MotoGP. This function provides instant indication of two split times of the track on which you are lapping. In addition, accessory software can be loaded with traction control adjustments developed specifically for Slick and Rain tires, with the ability to store the coordinates of five different tracks, as well as five additional fully customizable riding modes. Finally, thanks to the Ducati Data Analyzer, standard on the SP2, it is possible to carry out an in-depth analysis of all performance data.
