Eicma 2021 is the first opportunity to see and touch the Piaggio 1, or the electric scooter of the Pontedera company designed for urban contexts that was presented last May at the Beijing Motor Show. Its main characteristics are agility and lightness, but also a solid cyclist that guarantees the right level of safety. Roominess and comfort have been particularly taken care of and there is a complete technological equipment that includes color digital instrumentation, full LED lights and keyless system. In addition, the Piaggio 1 is also the only e-scooter in its category with a large underseat compartment, capable of holding a full jet helmet. The electric motor is integrated into the rear wheel and there are two versions, the moped one (1 kW of power and 45 km / h) and the motorcycle one (2 kW).
In both versions, the battery is positioned under the saddle, easily removable in a few seconds and transportable for convenient charging at home or in the office. The capacity to store energy changes, which in the “fifty” is 1.4 kWh, while in the Active version it is 2.3 kWh. The range changes accordingly, going up from 55 to 85 km; values obtained thanks also to the energy recovery system. The weight of the Piaggio 1 is 75 or 79 kg, to which 10 or 15 kilograms of the battery must be added. As for prices, it starts from 2,690 euros for the moped, and from 3,290 euros for the motorcycle. This new e-scooter will also be available in a special edition designed by Feng Chen Wang, one of the most experimental and innovative stylists on the international scene.
This version of the Piaggio 1 is characterized by an exclusive livery, in which the designer blends Chinese tradition with London creativity. The watercolor combines the natural elements of water and the symbol of the Phoenix, which in Chinese mythology represents virtue and grace, and is hand-drawn using the traditional brushstroke technique, while the green coloring – also used on the saddle upholstery and on the wheel rims – it not only recalls native flora, but also universal values such as health, prosperity and harmony. Finally, the Vespa Elettrica RED is also on display at the Piaggio Group stand at Eicma 2021, created in partnership with the non-profit organization founded by Bono and Bobby Shriver. Each purchase will lead to a donation to support the Global Fund, one of the world’s largest health funders, to support the fight against pandemics.
