“Every now and then I feel sad, because I find myself thinking that I will no longer compete. I will miss the adrenaline and the pressure, even all the people in the paddock who had become a family, but above all not being a rider anymore.” ‘self-analysis that Valentino Rossi made yesterday, on the stage of the MotoLive arena of Eicma 2021, during the “One More Lap” event. A show organized by Yamaha in the presence of over 9,000 fans and in which the number 46 remained on stage for over an hour and a half, retracing the 16 years spent with the team of the three tuning forks. Surrounded by four Yamaha YZR-M1s from four world championships, Rossi arrived on stage riding a special Yamaha YZF-M1 60th anniversary.

But that’s not all, because Yamaha also presented a special version, dedicated to the nine-time world champion, of its road sports car par excellence. It’s called R1 GYTR VR46 Tribute and features unique specifications, starting with the special livery designed by Aldo Drudi, a famous helmet designer and friend of Rossi. Among the special parts of this track-ready Yamaha we point out the fairing kit and the rear frame in carbon fiber, the 22-liter fuel tank, the Brembo Racing braking system and the Marelli control unit dedicated to the circuit. All components deriving from the motorcycles used in the Supperbike World Championship and that Rossi will soon have the opportunity to test among the Misano curbs, taking to the limit the specimen that was given to him directly by Lin Jarvis, the boss of Yamaha Motor Racing.

“For Yamaha, Valentino has never been a simple rider: he is the man who has given a decisive turn to our activities in MotoGP and for this we can never thank him enough. Over the course of the 16 years we spent together, he has given us the privilege of being protagonists of a motorcycle era that I would define as legendary. His charisma and his passion have created a real team, strong and goal-oriented. On this important day, we don’t just want to greet him and reiterate how important he was and still is today for Yamaha, but to pay homage to him with a bike designed for the little one on the way, with the hope that he will inherit the same passion that Valentino has been able to give to all of us. ”Said JArvis, before bringing on stage a small pink Yamaha PW50 for the future daughter of Rossi and Francesca Sofia Novello.
