There is the skilful hand of “Ken Okuyama” behind the design of the perturbing Kode61 Birdcage: this beautiful two-seater boat will be among the stars of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2023, staged over the weekend on Lake Como. The Japanese pencil is known in the news for having worked at Pininfarina and having been the co-author of legendary cars, such as the Ferrari Enzo and P4/5.
As can be seen from its name, “Birdcage”, the Kode61 draws inspiration from the Maserati models produced between the 1950s and 1960s, built around a frame whose geometry visually recalls a birdcage. Among these is the Birdcage Tipo 61, the racing car designed to compete at Le Mans to which the Kode61 seems to pay homage.
At the moment, the technical information on the vehicle is scarce, which could probably be built on a Maserati technical basis, as the wheels of the car, borrowed from the Trident MC20 supercar, suggest.
