BOLOGNA. The conditions of Fausto Gresini, 60, hospitalized in the Intensive Care ward of the Maggiore hospital in Bologna remain very serious: in the evening the news of his death spread, news later denied by his son and the team. Gresini is in hospital due to persistent severe respiratory failure resulting from the Covid-19 infection. “Unfortunately, complications have occurred that make the clinical picture critical,” said Dr. Nicola Cilloni in a note released by the Gresini team in the afternoon. His organ functions are “seriously impaired”. In the last few hours he has always been supported by a mechanical respirator, kept in a pharmacological coma.

For 13 seasons (from 1982 to 1994) Gresini was a motorcycling rider, winning two World titles, the first in 1985, then in 1987. In 1997 he founded Gresini Racing.
