Never before has such a powerful and specialized Cayman been seen: evidently, Porsche has not come down to “family compromises”, the same ones that previously pushed the company not to “hypertrophy” the Cayman so as not to annoy the more iconic 911. This time it did not go that way, because behind the cockpit of the new GT4 RS pulses a 6-cylinder boxer engine with 4 liters of cubic capacity and 500 HP of maximum power, called to push an empty weight of 1,415 kg. A value achieved thanks to elements such as the carbon front hood, the minimized sound-absorbing material and targeted lightening of the carpet, rear window and door panels.
The result is performance well above the “smooth” Cayman GT4: the RS, in fact, lapped on the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in 7: 04.511 minutes, a good 23.6 seconds less than the 718 Cayman GT4. The engine, capable of going up to 9,000 rpm, is coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.4 seconds; while the maximum speed is 315 km / h. Completely revised aerodynamics, which uses a new fixed rear wing, optimized underbody and a brand new connected rear diffuser.
These changes – in conjunction with the 30 mm lowered suspension – allow the GT4 RS to generate about 25% more downforce than the smooth GT4. And for those who are not satisfied, there is also the optional Weissach package which, in addition to adding many elements made of carbon, brings as a dowry a very light titanium tailpipe and allows you to order the 20-inch forged magnesium rims as well. Price? From 147,471 euros; first deliveries in March 2022.
