ROME. One of the 2003 Ferrari F2003-GA cars, the single-seater that accompanied Schumacher to conquer his sixth World Title, will be auctioned at RM Sotheby’s on November 9th.
The 2003 F2003-GA was already a winner in the name: the letters GA were to honor Gianni Agnelli, then recently deceased head of Fiat. Born as an evolved version of the F2002 of the previous season.
Designed by Rory Byrne and Ross Brawn, it was distinguished mainly by the elongated wheelbase. The heart of the F2003-GA is a V10 capable of producing 930 hp at 19,000 rpm.
During the 2003 Formula 1 season, this single-seater (chassis 229), led the German driver to victory 5 times: Spain, Austria, Canada, Italy and the United States; three pole positions, three fastest laps and two more podiums in Monaco and France.
This incredible record made chassis no. 229 decisive in securing the 6th World Championship for Michael Schumacher. The German, who also broke Fangio’s record that season, delivered his fifth consecutive constructors’ title to the Maranello team.
This Formula 1 car represents the pinnacle of one of the most naturally gifted drivers in motorsport. The Auction House has announced that the F2003-GA is in perfect condition: ready for the track. The car will be offered as a single lot during Sotheby’s Luxury Week on November 9 in Geneva. (HANDLE).
