Suzuki GSX-S950, the new maxi-naked “entry level” is also for novice drivers

Cars News

With the GSX-S950 Suzuki expands the offer of four-cylinder maxi-naked, creating a new entry model to the range that for cost and performance is positioned a step below the Katana and the GSX-S1000, of which it is practically the sister. twin, but with 57 HP of power and 2,800 euros less cost. The new 950, however, is also suitable for novice drivers and is the absolute largest motorbike among those that can be driven with an A2 license. The 999 cc engine is Euro 5 approved and delivers 95 HP at 7,800 rpm, with a maximum torque of 92 Nm at 6,500 rpm. Compared to the “full power” version of the GSX-S1000, it should guarantee a much more responsive response at low revs, to the advantage of smooth running.

Moreover, this engine is a close relative of the one that allowed Suzuki to win the twentieth World Endurance Championship in its history in 2021. With the GSX-S1000 it also shares the chassis, built around the double beam aluminum frame and the swingarm in the same material; it is connected to the rear shock absorber – adjustable in preload and rebound – by means of a progressive linkage. The fork, on the other hand, is of the upside-down type (43 mm) and is supplied by KYB. The original equipment tires are Dunlop Roadsport 2, while the front braking system is made up of a pair of 310 mm floating discs on which four-piston monobloc and radial-mount callipers produced by Tokico act.

The electronic package includes the ride-by-wire throttle, the traction control that can be deactivated and adjustable on three levels and the ABS, in addition to the assistance system at the start that makes everyday use more comfortable. Among the most interesting features of the new Suzuki maxi-naked there are also the superimposed Led headlight and the 19-liter tank. The GSX-S950 can be ordered in two colors: Miami Blue and Dubai Black, both of which share the presence of details with a textured pattern finish called forged carbon look. The list price starts at 10,390 euros.
