The Alpine A110 becomes part of the French National Gendarmerie

Cars News

The Alpine A110 joins the French National Gendarmerie, joining a long list of Renault Group sports models that have been “enlisted” over the past decades, including the first generation berlinetta being one of the first vehicles in the emergency response brigade. . The original A110 was then followed by the A310, the Renault 18 and 21 Turbo and some versions of the Megane, including the very bad RS. Returning to today’s A110, the supply contract between the Dieppe brand and the French Ministry of the Interior was signed on 11 October following the victory of a tender launched in June 2021 and concerning emergency vehicles specifically for the Gendarmerie. Alpine will supply twenty-six vehicles over the next four years, with first deliveries scheduled for early 2022.

These vehicles will be used for interventions on the motorway, which see the involvement of cars that have broken the speed limits, but also for road safety and judicial police missions (drug trafficking, for example). Two other Alpine A110s will be dedicated to training emergency response operators. In addition, the arrival of the mid-engined, rear-wheel drive berlinettas will help modernize and rejuvenate the police fleet, a process launched by the French Ministry of the Interior for a couple of years. The Alpine A110s, once assembled in the Alpine plant in Dieppe (Senna Marittima), will be set up by the Durisotti company, at the production site in Sallaumines (Pas-de-Calais).

The latter has been active since 1956 and specializes in the transformation and fitting out of special vehicles, so much so that it participates in many projects for the Ministry of the Interior. The Alpine A110s that the National Gendarmerie will receive will be customized to measure starting from the basic version, the one with the 252 HP 1.8 TCe which, given the mass of less than 12 quintals, pushes the French sports car up to 250 km / h and from 0 to 100. km / h in 4.5 seconds. The A110 in uniform will have all the equipment normally supplied, but also unique specifications: silkscreen prints, reflective stickers, flashing light, buzzer, variable message panel and more.
