Cars News

The third generation of the Hyundai i20 is three years old and the Korean company presents its restyling on time, confirming the great attention to the product that has allowed the entire Group to rise to third place among world manufacturers. The i20 is recognized for its renewed design, which makes the front end much sharper, for the new safety equipment and for the advanced connectivity functions, which according to Hyundai define one of the most complete packages in the B segment. Still in terms of design, three new colors are making their debut, bringing the total to eight, which can be combined with a contrasting black roof. Added to this is the new interior color package in lucid lime.

Still on the subject of the interior, the seats have a new sporty design with raised texture, while lime-coloured stitching decorates various points in the cabin. Speaking instead of technology, the restyling of the Hyundai i20 introduces USB-C sockets, the second generation eCall based on the 4G network and Over-the-Air map updates. The instrument and infotainment system displays, on the other hand, are unchanged and both measure 10.25 inches. There is connectivity with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, but also the wireless charger for smartphones and the latest update of Bluelink telematics services.

The updates also concern the safety systems: now the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist also with the cyclist functionality is standard and there is also the Smart Cruise Control based on the navigation system (NSCC), which uses map data to predict the course of the road and adjust your speed accordingly. There are always two engines available: the 100 bhp 48-volt 1.0 T-GDi mild hybrid, or the 84 bhp naturally aspirated 1.2. The former is available with the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (7DCT) or the intelligent six-speed manual transmission (iMT) which is able to decouple the engine from the transmission when the accelerator is released, thus saving fuel. Finally, prices have not yet been announced, but should be in line with those of the current generation.
