Turbo 3 Legends: the legendary Renault 5 Turbo is reborn with restomod sauce

Cars News

A matter of design, mechanical configuration and, last but not least, world rally pedigree: these are the factors that make the Renault 5 Turbo an eighties motoring icon. Now the most angry of all the cars in the Losanga receives new life thanks to the French Legende Automobiles, which has thought of a restomod – that is a restoration and simultaneous updating of the components – which optimizes all aspects of the original Renault 5 Turbo .

The result is the Legende Turbo 3: the technical configuration remains the same, made up of a central engine (arranged behind the front seats and in front of the rear axle) and rear-wheel drive, but everything else is implemented in the light of the most modern technology. The bodywork is completely made with carbon fiber to reduce weight to a minimum, while the powertrain consists of a thermal unit with over 400 HP of power, transmitted to the rear through a sequential six-speed gearbox.

The design does not differ from that of the Renault 5 Turbo, but appears more muscular and modern due to the extra-large fenders and the LED light groups. At the rear, on the other hand, the two tailpipes stand out, drowned in the aerodynamic diffuser. The size of the alloy rims is also growing, reaching 17 inches, probably to accommodate the oversized discs of a latest generation high-performance braking system.

Inside, however, the architecture of the dashboard – lined with technical fabric – is preserved, even if the analogue instrumentation gives way to a digital panel. The steering wheel, air vents and climate control controls are also new. Finally, the sports seats with integrated headrests and 6-point seat belts are essential. At the moment Legende Automobiles has not specified neither prices nor circulation of the vehicle. But, given the genre, the price list will certainly be the prerogative of the wealthiest collectors.
