Volvo Recharge, here is the first ultra-fast charging station in Milan

Cars News

The first ultra-fast charging station in the metropolitan area of Milan is by Volvo and was built by Coima, the real estate investment company that managed the redevelopment of the Porta Nuova district. This is where the Volvo Recharge station is located, a stone’s throw from the Volvo Studio – where the presentation press conference was held – and from the Coima headquarters, in the area of the most modern skyscrapers of the Lombard capital. The new Delta UFC200 column, where two cars can be recharged at the same time at a maximum power of 150 kW, is already active, although in a first test phase that will last until the end of the month, then it will enter full capacity and can be used through all the major services and top-up apps. The energy supplied makes it possible to recover 100 km of autonomy in 10 minutes (with a state-of-the-art electricity) and is produced by the hydroelectric plants of Dolomiti Energia and is therefore renewable and sustainable. In this first phase you can only top up with a Plugsurfing or Duferco account.

The owner of the charging infrastructure is Coima while the infrastructure and operating system manager is Duferco Energia.

Plugsurfing, on the other hand, is Volvo’s partner charging service provider and in fact charging with its account costs € 0.35 / kWh for all users, then in a second phase the price for non-Volvo customers will be aligned with the market. In this first test phase, however, you can only top up with a Plugsurfing or Duferco account. Furthermore, the station is configured as an urban furniture system, consisting of a shelter and a Hispanic Platanus in the open ground; its inauguration is also the prologue of the Volvo Recharge Highways project – announced last year and being implemented in collaboration with the Italian dealers of the Swedish brand – which will lead to the installation of a few dozen ultrafast charging stations throughout the country within mid 2022.

In addition, Volvo presented the Electricity electric mobility service dedicated to residents and companies in the Portanuova district, who will have fifteen electric XC40s available, which can be rented from one hour to three days. The service – active from April 2022 – will be accessible through an app that will be hosted within that of the Portanuova Milano district and the Volvo Studio Milano will be the coordination center of the service. “The initiatives that we announce today show how much Volvo believes in its strategy linked to electrification aimed at reducing CO2 emissions and how it intends to participate more and more actively in defining a sustainable future for the city of Milan and our country”, he said. affirmed Michele Crisci, President of Volvo Car Italia. These two initiatives constitute the first step in a larger project, shared with Coima, for the electrification of the entire Porta Nuova district and the consequent reduction of CO2 emissions.
