With the Manifesto concept, Dacia imagines a future in contact with nature

Cars News

A concept car so extreme and disconnected from series production, signed by a generalist manufacturer, has not been seen for quite some time. The Dacia Manifesto wants to represent the vision of an essential, cool, robust, accessible and ecologically advanced car. It is a kind of laboratory of ideas, from which derives a vehicle connected with nature, respectful of the environment and full of innovations, some of which will arrive on the production Dacia of the near future. Through the Manifesto, Dacia declares the ambitious goal of supporting its customers who are increasingly passionate about outdoor activities, but without forgetting the values that have been at the basis of the success of the Dacia in recent years. In all this, the Manifesto presents itself as a cross between a quad with a roof and a dune buggy: there are neither doors, nor windows, nor windshields to be totally immersed in nature.

“We at Dacia like concreteness. As we were developing and exploring new ideas, we wanted to push them beyond 3D simulations to see what they look like in reality. The Manifesto embodies our vision and brings together many innovations, sometimes extreme in applications, but which are nevertheless always accessible to customers, ”said David Durand, Dacia Director of Design. In the Manifesto, the focus on outdoor activities is also expressed in the presence of a multifunction worktop instead of the rear trunk, while in the passenger compartment the passengers are connected to the services offered by the smartphone. It is the “Bring your own device” approach that allows you to physically integrate your smartphone into the dashboard and digitally connect it to the on-board systems. The innovations of this concept also affect other areas: the YouClip system allows you to easily attach some accessories and the single headlight can be extracted to transform into a flashlight.

The interiors are washable with a water jet and the seat upholstery becomes a sleeping bag, while the modular roof can carry any type of load thanks to the modular and removable bars. There is also a removable battery with a household socket, to support outdoor activities. The body is made largely of recycled plastic, derived from the transformation of the polymers used and the passenger compartment is fitted out with natural materials, such as cork. Airless tires are also puncture-proof and have the same durability as the vehicle. As for the mechanics, however, Dacia did not provide specifications in addition to all-wheel drive. Being a concept, it is normal that we do not talk about the engine, also because it is not present under the bodywork, so we can only imagine it. Will it be electric or thermal? We will find out (perhaps) in a few years.
